The process depends on the age of the horse you are purchasing.  In all cases, we provide vet reports appropriate for insuring the horse.

Select the foal you want to purchase Bill of sale is prepared and a down payment is made. Within 72 hours of birth, the foal is vet checked and the results are supplied to the buyer.  If any problems, the agreement is void and the down payment is returned.  If the foal is healthy, the second payment is due.  We provide appropriate information for the buyer to insure their foal at this time.  Insurance may be required, depending on the value of the foal. Transportation is arranged by the buyer, although we can provide a list of shippers that we have worked with. As weaning approaches, we notify the buyer of the expected date. We arrange for Coggins test and the brand inspection. After weaning, final arrangements are made for shipment.  The final payment is made before shipping. We complete and submit any agreed upon registration and transfer to the new owner.

We are responsible for feed and housing costs from the time the agreement is signed until the "must pick up by date" that is defined in the Bill of Sale.  The buyer is responsible for the following: Veterinary charges.  For this reason,  we strongly recommend insuring your purchase. Tests and documentation relating to shipping.  This includes the Coggins and the brand inspection. Shipping.  These can vary greatly, depending on your location, which shipper you use and the shipping facilities (box stall vs. stand up stall).  Prices can be reduced by offering flexibility in pickup dates, which allows the shippers to group together a full load. If you do not pick up your horse by the negotiated date, you will be responsible for feed and boarding costs.  The per-day charge will be outlined in your Bill of Sale. Insurance.  The buyer is responsible for the cost of insuring the horse until it is paid in full.
