June
Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday

1 - Day 315

2 - Day 316

Udder fuller.  Cassie is quite irritable.
3 - Day 317

Udder fuller. Belly changed shape and Cassie seems more comfortable..
4 - Day 318

Milk starting to become cloudy.  Cassie's behavior says she's getting close.

5 - Day 319

Mean mare!!!!  Yikes, this is one nasty horse tonight!  Must be getting close....

6 - Day 320

Udder full, large - probably won't get much bigger.  Cassie's hindquarters have dropped off.  She's in the home stretch..
7 - Day 321

Plenty of udder, fluid not down in the teats yet.  Cassie can change quickly so we're watching carefully.  She's tricky during foal watch!
8 - Day 322

Cassie has been rolling today, belly's shape is different.  Udder large, fluid not down in the teats yet.

9 - Day 323

No change today.

10 - Day 323

No change today.

11 - Day 324

12 - Day 325

Cassie's hindquarters have really dropped off and she's starting to get hollows next to her tail head.  She flirted with the stallion today - always a sign that she's close.
13 - Day 326

Milk is starting to drop down into her teats.  Milk is still cloudy and not opaque, but this can change quite quickly with Cassie.  Put up a camera in her stall to start watching through the night..
14 - Day 327

Cassie's milk is turning white and thickening.  Her udder is quite full.  Foal's foot is pushing out on Cassie's side, high on her flank, do it must not have turned.  She's close.
15 - Day 328

Cassie's milk is like skim milk tonight.  Udder is very full and heavy.  Her hindquarters have turned to mush and she's looking ready.  Cassie's pattern varies - she may stay like this for a few days or foal right away.
16 - Day 329

Cassie's milk is nearly foal ready.  Quite white, becoming opaque.  Cassie is quite restless and mean.  She grinds her teeth if any horse looks at her.  She can go quite quickly from here to foaling (or not!).
17 - Day 330

Milk is ready.  Hindquarters have softened/dropped off, Cassie is clearly at the end.  She's been quite restless today, pawing and rolling.  She could foal tonight, or hold off a bit longer.  We're watching closely.
18 - Day 331

Milk is ready, although some years it has gotten thicker than it is now before foaling.  Her milk isn't all the way down in her teats, so she's probably not foaling tonight.  She rolled a lot during turn out, the foal has not taken foaling position (since I can see a leg pushing out high on her flank).
19 - Day 332

Cassie has been streaming milk, both hind legs are covered in milk.  The foal's foot was still high on Cassie's flank, she started fidgeting/moving and the foal apparently turned.  Photos shows different belly shape.  We expect a foal very soon.

It's a COLT!  Darling black or dark bay, 4 whites, blaze.  Cute, cute, cute!
